Fresh ingredients give this modern asian fusion menu complex and sophisticated flavours, without the fatty oils and MSG saturating most chinese food. In an area with so many asian restaurants, these guys don 't have a lot of competition their polished service, imaginative menu and classy kitch venue offer a unique asian dining experience that puts them on a cocktail serving next level. With all things, you get what you pay for don 't come here expecting a $7 plate of honey chicken and some special fried rice, its not that sort of joint. Bring your significant other, have a few drinks, and explore some really awesome flavour combinations, you wont be disappointed! (PS get the 'Pandacotta ' you 're welcome)
Absolutely everything about Neho is fun. Booking is easy – online, no fuss, the wait staff are lovely, and the quirky signs and decor of the place puts you right into a carefree, fun state of mind before you even look at the menu. The signs are great examples of how meaning gets ‘lost in translation’, and the owners have chosen some really funny illustrations of this.
Overall, I think Neho does a pretty good job of Asian fusion tapas. Some of the dishes we tried really hit the mark in terms of flavour punch and each dish was very well presented. Our favourites were definitely the pork and cabbage dumplings, Goreng cauliflower and karancini balls. Thai BBQ pork belly was a little bit chewy, but had good taste. The Mushi Tacos had a lot going on, and the textures and flavours seemed to be competing, rather than complimenting each other. But apparently, they are well liked by other reviewers, so try them out for yourself. The Miso Corn Gratin (watch out it’s hot! was an unusual dish, and overall I enjoyed the cheesey goodness. The Karancini was likewise a great combination of crunchy crust, gooey mozzarella and spicy Korean rice flavours! Would be keen to try the Pork Sliders, and the two chicken dishes next time around, and that will definitely happen, thanks to the great service (Charmaine and the $15 return voucher we received. An amusing attraction is the various illuminated signs hanging in the restaurant, which are presumably direct Chinese English translations. Lots of laughs over these signs and they’re sure to brighten up your dining experience!
Neho is a solid 4. I could stretch to a 4.5 if this app would let me. It’s a funky and hip place, trying to serve innovative food that’s hip and funky, like the place. It’s good value too, and has a “different” drinks menu which includes a few sakes and plum wines we tried a couple of the sakes and it was worth a try. As well as beer and wine if that’s your tipple. <br/ <br/ The young staff we’re friendly and attentive. I really liked that my chilled tap water was regularly topped up by the waitstaff as they walked past, from the bottle left on our table. A small touch but evidence of a good ethic front of house. All our courses were tasty and freshly prepared, nicely presented and plated. We had four sharing dishes which was plenty: grilled prawns, roasted cauliflower with a picqante cheesy sauce, crunchy chicken wings, pork sliders. And we couldn’t resist sharing the apple pie spring rolls with caramel sauce and ice cream. If just one of these dishes had been a jump off the plate WOW then this would have been a 5 star dinner. I’m sure they’ll get that one day. In the meantime Neho is a place to try, you’ll hopefully want to go back again, just like I do.
Funky little place, very busy on Saturday night. Delicious, fresh, well presented food. Delightful attentive staff. A bit expensive.
