Makaha Valley Country Club - Waianae

Do Not play here if you’re expecting anything more than a 1-star golf course…They should have paid me to play here instead of paying them. The course is in HORRIBLE condition. One hole in particular has more sand filled divots on the green then actual green. A ton of pot holes on the cart paths, and the pro shop looks like an empty store that just got robbed. Absolutely zero merchandise and items. We flew here from state-side without anything and was gonna need everything (clubs, tee’s, balls, etc). The clubs were the best part of the entire day. Really good condition Taylor-made. But everything else, and I mean everything else sucked. If there was another course near by, I would have cancelled the reservation and got a refund. The website is very misleading and doesn’t represent anything of what they actually have or see when you go in person. Buyer beware.

I don’t play golf but my mom have been for more than 40 years. She has been to many golf courses in many different countries. In Hawaii, this is her favorite. She has been to courses in Maui, Kauai and Big island. This is her favorite. The mountain view is absolutely fabulous.

This course in its prime you can tell was a true test. It has since been let go and is in rough shape. The bunkers are gone and mostly grown full of weeds. The greens have been over taken by weeds and are very interesting to putt on. But this course changed hands a few months back and they have already done a ton of work to bring it back to life. It’s a 5 star if you want to go scrape out 18 holes have a few beers, laughs, and go back to the beach. If your looking high end quality course then go spend 300 at a local resort. The staff is really nice and they as well are looking forward to this course being of high quality again. If they do all the work they have planned I doubt this will stay a 60 dollar round for a non resident. Good luck in all your renovations I will play it again the next time I am back.
