Very nice facility with private pilot school. 2. Flights a day to Charlotte, North Carolina. Free parking while you're gone. Really nice!!!

I fly across the country 3-5 times a year. Over the past decade I've tried SEVERAL times to use SHD and regardless of the carrier United or Contour, these people can't pull off the 2 flights offered each day. The significant delays or last minute cancelations due to crew, or equipment make traveling through here a hassle outweighing the logistical convenience, free parking and charm of this tiny airport. If rather go to Charlottesville (better chance of getting out/ back on time) or drive 2+ hours to Dulles to further improve odds. If you've experienced similar at SHD, file a complaint with VDOT and see if they'll help fix the problem. [hidden link]

Shenandoah Valley Airport is amazing and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Parking is limited between two lots, I'd your preparing to visit. SHD is a very inexpensive way to travel getting connecting flights in Charlotte. Looking forward to flying with you guys in April!!

I arrived a half hour before my scheduled departure and I was the only person in the entire passenger terminal. No, I'm not kidding. There was no one else here until just before it was time to board the ONE commercial flight. A little creepy for someone who is the Duke of the Charlotte airport and in the top ten for checkins at Atlanta airport. Wifi worked well, bathrooms were super clean, the view of my plane was great. Sitting area was tidy and comfortable with power outlets around. There's even a vending machine if you want to get a candy bar or a drink for your flight, but remember that the rules on liquids still apply here. Eventually, the other passengers arrived and then the crew and the TSA and the local cops. My TSA screening went fine but my two fellow passengers (yep, only three people on this regional jet this morning) both had major challenges getting screened. Weird.

Very small airport, which i love. Free parking. They have a car rental service there. The whole process from check in to boarding the plane is super fast. Also getting your checked luggage when landing is immediate. What i dont like, is on the other side of TSA, there is nowhere to buy a drink or snacks. No vending machine. Luckily i had an empty bottle so i could fill it up with the water fountain. We had a flight cancel last minute, which i dont blame on the airport at all. However....as soon as they announced it was canceled, and the staff instructed a few of us what to do, which was to call the airline, all the staff immediately left. There was actually people still getting to the airport for the flight and I was having to run out in the parking lot to let them know it had been canceled so their ride did not leave them. The staff should stay until all passengers are aware, and they should also assist in helping passengers get things figured out. Very nice staff though.
