Chocolat Cocoa Cafe York

Highly recommended to visit, I was not disappointed. I indulged in the decadent hot chocolate and splurged on calories for a week, but it was worth every bite. Treat yourself occasionally, it's a must-do experience.

Being loyal customers of all things Hotel Chocolat, delighted to discover Hotel Chocolat restaurant in John Lewis store at Vangarde. Pleasant staff but based on satisfying experiences at Cambridge and latterly at Leeds, first thoughts were that staff required more training in producing beverages. Hot Chilli Chocolat rather lukewarm, no offer of added cream. Also, Hotel Chocolat please provide Hot drinks in Mugs with Handles....making for Happy customers!

Called in for a quick coffee and slice of carrot cake, not actually realising this isn't part of John Lewis but is a separate concession. The coffees and cake were good and the service was ok as well but the place needs a good tidy up. There was a lot of clutter on the shelving at the back of the counter and the floor under our table needed sweeping. Maybe they were short staffed as we only saw two assistants.

I stopped by on Sunday for a drink while shopping with my girlfriend. The restaurant was quite busy, but there was enough space for us. We ordered our drinks, but were surprised to find out that the place was closing in 20 minutes without any prior notice. This was frustrating. We sat at a dirty table, the only clear one available. When our drinks arrived, my hot chocolate was missing the chocolate cream on top, which I had paid extra for. I checked with the staff member, who informed me that we hadn't asked or paid for the cream. However, after checking the receipt, I found out that we had indeed paid for it. The staff seemed eager to close up early, as they were not very helpful or accommodating. It was only 4pm on a Sunday, but it felt like they were already in a rush to leave. Overall, we were not impressed and unlikely to return.

My friend and I were shopping in York and dropped for lunch, the sandwiches were fresh and taste, but the best thing was the hot chocolate I had the salted caramel, the hot Chocolate was thick and yummy topped with a light airy chocolate mousse sprinkled with a crisp topping. Not just a drink it's a drink and desert all in one good sized cup The cafe offers a nice space for friends or business meeting
