This was a very pleasant place to visit. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The Famous Guy Fawkes Pie, lived up to its excellent reputation. In fact all the food looked goo. The desserts looked even better. Would highly recommend The Guy Fawkes Inn.
Its a nice place, in a nice location, with a nice dining room, but my meal was disappointing. I had a roast beef sandwich panini the beef was chewy. I 've had the same meal there before and it has been really nice, unfortunately not this time. My wife had the cheese toastie, which was again disappointing not cheesy enough and she thought the fries were underdone. It is a meal she has previously had there too and really enjoyed. Maybe our latest visit was on an off day. Its a shame, because i like the place.
We enjoyed the setting. The food was ok, the chicken was very dry and the beef very chewy so it wasn't the best roast I've had, lacked flavour and seasoning, no herbs etc. The atmosphere was ruined a little bit no fault of the establishment) as we were sat next to a family that allowed thier children to play two different children's programmes whilst they ate. The sound of Paw Patrol on repeat wasn't my idea of a relaxing meal!
We waited 5 mins to be even acknowledged. The lady who runs the restaurant area doesn’t smile she should not be in hospitality! However the young man was just charming and if ut wasn’t fir him, we would have left. The pub itself is wonderful. We had the steak pie, mine was a bit tough but my husband said his was lovely. Nit sure how but maybe they are cooked from different batches of steak. The pastry was perfect. We woukd have liked veg with it though. Enjoyed the experience but won’t go again. The lady really does need to work on her manner and smile. No one wants to see a miserable face when they are on a weekend break!
