Went for my birthday meal seeming this place had great reviews but not always the way, very small room for a restaurant, when sat down explained to the host that we are new to Korean BBQ and just let the poor young lad to serve our table he was only young and forgot a good few things for the table not his fault but when the food arrived the bbq meat was nice I wouldn’t say 21 quid worth but it was okay came with 6 very small trays when they arrived didn’t explain what any of them where or what to do with the BBQ my Mrs ordered the honey and butter chicken which when I pointed out was undercooked to the host explained its the way the chicken is marinated was taken off the bill and my Mrs made herself throw up in the toilet wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone sorry
This was our first visit to Oshibi and it wont be the last . It was also our first encounter with authentic Korean Food The whole experience from the menu to the bill was great Lovely food , lovely people
Food was great. Service impeccable. Will return when we are next in York. Kids loved it. Had a wide variety of choices.
I really hate writing a bad review but this place has gotten so much worse! It’s insanely expensive for the portion sizes and you have to add rice onto dishes which are already £12-14?! To top the experience off I saw one of the kitchen staff come up the stairs with frozen chicken from Lidl. Not worth the money at all.
An upstairs room that's clean and bright. As it was a hot evening, I didn't order bibimbap (my favourite Korean dish). We decided to share some crispy fried chicken and spicy squid with rice. The fried chicken was as described but it reminded me of chicken McNuggets. Our rice was brought and waited for our squid. It took a while to catch a server's eye to enquire if they had forgotten our squid. They had. We asked for some fresh, warm rice with the squid. It was okay but not worth the wait (or the money). I have read reviews criticising the prices here, so I won't join the pile-on. However, whilst I applaud the entrepreneurial zeal in opening a Korean restaurant in York, it's a very competitive city and you need to be setting high standards to build a sustainable customer base of people who come back regularly. I'm not sure that Oshibi is delivering the goods. In summary, a disappointing evening out and not too satisfactory.
