As always, the service was polite and efficient, the wait time was very reasonable as everything is freshly cooked to order, and the food was delicious. We both started with crispy and tasty spring rolls, and both had the seabass for our main course; mine was served in a sweet plant sauce, while my friend's was in a curry sauce. In both cases, the fish was perfectly cooked and tender. We tried each other's sauces, and the clean, fresh, and flavorful spice of the curry sauce stood out, while the plum sauce, though undeniably sweet, was full of fruity taste and not cloying. For dessert, we chose bananas in coconut cream, which was a perfect way to end the meal along with a fantastic cup of coffee. In a word, it was sublime!
Awful food, lackluster cooking and sparse ingredients. Okay if you don't value your money, but it's a wasted night out. Avoid this place.
We came for 1930 and did not have our meals up to 2200, I guess it was new years eve, but the staff did not even apologize in the run of the meal or ask how it was eating. when we said that we were not happy about how long it took to get out, the woman who treated us was nothing but rude and had not listened to the time of the day on a word we had to say, and simply said if we had a problem, we should complain before eating. because of the way we were treated, it put a real downer on the rest of the evening and we will not return!
I have been enjoying Thai cuisine for 30 years due to my close friendship with someone from Thailand. Sangthai is truly outstanding. The food is fresh and flavorful, and unlike many other Thai restaurants, the service is consistently top-notch. The dipping sauces pair perfectly with the appetizers, and the pad thai is hands down the best I have ever tasted. This hidden gem surpasses any Thai restaurant in Leeds that I have tried, and I have sampled most of them!
The Santhai at Escrick is definately on the up again. A new chef has added a wow factor to the already tasty menu. I have over the years worked my way through the whole menu. My favourites starter is Si Oua (spicy sausage) it is hot and delicated flavoured all at the same time. Kradoog Moo Tod (spare ribs) are the most melt in the mouth ever. Slow cooked to perfection. I think having tried most of the main courses now, but still come back to the Gaeng Keowan Gai(green chicken curry) although not for the squeamish Poo Pat Pong Galee(crab with celery) sounds boring, but has such depth of flavour and texture and is also such great fun to eat. They now have a wider range of desserts but I generally struggle to leave room. Woon Gati(coconut jelly custard) are an intersting palate cleanser. The wine list is well sourced and as I not of the old fashioned opinion that thai food should be accompanied by beer I have been more than happy to order Pinot Noir to go with hot red curries and Sparkling to go with anything hot!. I just love this place and will keep returning again and again bringing my friends.
