My husband ordered the Ocean fish dish, which included haddock, scampi, mushy peas, and perfectly cooked chips that were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Each dish was £18 and worth every penny. This is not your average pub food - it is top-notch quality. We will definitely be coming back!
Visiting York for a long weekend popped in here for a bite to eat on the Friday evening, I had fish and chips my partner had a pan fried fish dish, and It was so delicious that we thought if that was that good we’d go back and try another meal, So we went for Sunday lunch maybe a little late at 3.00 o’clock as they had run out of beef so we had to have chicken, BUT wow what a delicious meal it was, we have eaten in a few places over this long weekend but we would say this is by far the best food we have eaten all weekend and we would highly recommend it if you find yourself in York, The Old White Swan is s nice, dimly lit friendly atmosphere place with a good array of drinks and the food is the best you’ll find in this level of dinning all credit the the manager the bar staff and kitchen staff top job lovely place
The apple crumble was lovely, I enjoyed it, the place is great as usual and went in for a couple of drinks.
Enjoyed bed, breakfast and evening meal ant the weekend. Lovely clean room. Dinner and breakfast top quality and tasty. Slight downside bar prices seemed to alter each time we went and one of the receptionists was rather terse. However did not spoil our stay
We were recommended to try this place by a couple that were staying in the same hotel as us and it was 100% the right decision. I had the brisket shin pie which had plenty of filling and super soft and tasty meat. My partner had the chicken and avocado burger with chips which was delicious too. The atmosphere is great in the restaurant with a cosy bar round the other side and a bustling courtyard too.
