The Punch Bowl Inn - York

We stopped by The Punchbowl for a quick sandwich. Unfortunately, it took 40 minutes to receive our order. When our sandwiches arrived, the fish finger sandwich was missing mushy peas and chips, and my husband was charged extra for chips that were not listed on the menu. The beef sandwich was small, with just one onion ring, cold beef, and a tiny ciabatta roll. There was no gravy or condiments on the table. Overall, we felt it was a poor value for £29 with 2 soft drinks. The only positive was the friendly service from a young lady. We haven't tried a main meal there and probably won't take the risk.

Today, my family had a lovely Christmas Eve lunch at this restaurant. I don't usually write reviews, but I must say that the service and food were exceptional. Everyone enjoyed the delicious Sunday dinners of pork, beef, and chicken. Ian and his team were fantastic. Our waitress, whose name I didn't catch, was friendly and attentive, answering all of our questions. Great service truly makes a difference, so thank you. We have been to this pub many times before, and I can confidently say that it has only gotten better. We will definitely be returning in the new year!

I had a great evening at this restaurant. The food was delicious and well-prepared, the staff were friendly, quick, and efficient, and the dining area was warm and inviting. I have noticed many changes in the area over the years, both positive and negative, but I hope that the current high standards at this restaurant continue for a long time.

We have had some mixed experiences with our local Provenance Inn in Felixkirk, so we were hesitant about making a reservation here since we had never been before. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The manager was attentive and the staff were both efficient and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch, which was delicious and served in generous portions. We will definitely be returning!
