Located in the middle of Kuju Plateau, with Mount Kuju to the north and Aso Gogaku to the south, this restaurant offers a 360° view. The fried chicken and chicken nanban are delicious. I visited after a year and had the Tanuki Hachigosen set meal. The fried food from the last visit was good, but the simmered dish and miso soup were also tasty, giving off a nice countryside vibe. The main dish, minced pork cutlet with wild boar meat, had a great texture. The meal also came with deep-fried tofu and simmered butterbur, providing a satisfying amount of food. As I left the restaurant, I saw two gliders taking off from a nearby facility. The location on a sunny day is indeed wonderful.
Hidden away, but only about a 15-minute drive from Sanai Rest House, this restaurant is not too far. Located on a hill, the view is also stunning. The parking lot has some paved areas, so even those on motorcycles can feel at ease, which is highly appreciated. Inside, there are table seats and tatami mat seats. The chairs at the table seats are very comfortable. I tried the Tanuki Hachi set meal for 1620 yen. Each dish is carefully prepared and very delicious. The simmered dish has a fragrant broth with vegetables, not too salty, and has a gentle taste that is comforting. The main dish, the special Minced Cutlet with wild boar, has a rich flavor, and even without it, the seasoning is adequate, but it's also good with the accompanying miso. The balance of flavors is just right, and you can be fully satisfied. I was told you can have seconds, but I was already full.
