Let's just say we will not be bk bought chicken curry, curry sauce and 2 friend rice and ribs and chips came to a whopping 40 quid could not believe it but felt bad as was already cooked the rice was overcooked and ribs were soiled the curry tasted like green pepper which they had in it and they were soiled . Later that night I went to bed and woke up throught the night with a sore tummy and brought it all back up . Soo gutted as bnd kitchens were lovely . Will not be bk here
My wife and I have been regular customers at Betty and David’s restaurant for at least the past ten years and sadly we were in their for the last time, due to their imminent closure! It is so very sad that due to the current costly economic climate, they have decided to close in mid November. Hopefully once things get back to normal this restaurant will re open as it is definitely one of the best, if not the best, Chinese restaurants in Edinburgh. Here’s hoping you are not closed for too long, as regular customers like us, definitely need the quality of food that you serve! All the best.
I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. It was not what I was expecting at all. Firstly, I was surprised to find out that they do not serve alcohol, which was not mentioned on their website. The hot and sour soup was very poor and my husband's ribs were dry and chewy. His special curry had a very small portion. I ordered king prawns in garlic sauce, but they arrived dry with no sauce at all. I requested mushrooms with my prawns, but they do not serve mushrooms. This was the strangest Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. It felt more like a Chinese takeaway with a few tables and the decor was not nice. The staff were friendly, but ultimately it is the food that I pay for and I was just very disappointed. I usually do not like to write negative reviews, but I had relied on other reviews that did not reflect my experience. I would not return to this restaurant.
I called last minute and was able to get a reservation at this cozy family restaurant. The atmosphere was simple and felt like we were dining in someone's home. The service was warm and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. We brought our own drinks and had a fantastic experience overall. I would highly recommend this place if you enjoy tasty, homemade meals in a comfortable setting.
Absolutely first class food and friendly service once again by Betty and David, hence the name B D’s kitchen. Dont be put off by the inside appearance of the restaurant, the food is simply wonderful and relatively inexpensive. Also remember it I’s unlicensed and is a BYOB. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Edinburgh.
