Chico's Cafe Takeaway - York

We arrived in York late in the evening and were in need of a meal. Thankfully, Chicos was still open and we decided to go for the classic fish and chips. However, we ended up choosing the chicken kebab instead, each with a side of chips. Unfortunately, none of us were able to finish our meals. The chicken in the kebab was more like poor quality chicken nuggets in a bland sauce, the tortilla wrap was stale and inedible, and the chips were lackluster. We all felt that going to bed hungry would have been a better option and a better value for our money.

We spent over £40 at this restaurant and did not receive the burger we ordered, which was priced at around £7. Additionally, we requested to have no red cabbage due to an allergy, but still received it. The restaurant was not busy, and it was a shame because the staff was very polite. Despite being recommended to visit, we will not be returning.

The kebab lacked flavor and was served with bland red cabbage. While I usually enjoy red cabbage, this particular one was not to my liking. The kebab was wrapped in bread and came with what appeared to be plain yogurt from a container. The chicken burger did not come with fries and had to be purchased separately. Unfortunately, the fries were stale. None of us enjoyed the food and we all left about half of our meals uneaten. This was disappointing, especially considering the relatively high prices. Overall, we were all disappointed with our dining experience.

My husband and I recently visited Chicos after a day out in York. We both had sausage and chips and they where very nice and piping hot. The lad who served us was lovely too.
