The Court Cafe Bistro - York

On the last Monday afternoon in June I called here because I needed a cup of tea and something to eat before going to Evensong at the Minster and my 'usual haunt ' had closed for the day. It was every bit as good in fact better than on previous visits. I had a pot of tea with the lemon served separately (as it should be) and couple of scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream. It was absolutely delicious and well worth the £5.60 I paid. I 'll be going there again before too long!

The area around the Minster there's no better place to watch the coming and goings of the tourists than here. The moment you walk through the door your made so welcome by staff of varying nationalities. There's always a manager walking around making sure us, the guest are happy. One little tip, the egg mayonnaise sandwiches are in a league of their own.

The dean Court has a fantastic location next to the Minster. Its lobby based bistro and cafe have windows that offer angled views but you come here for the quiet, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, the great coffee and the traditional offerings of cake, scones and afternoon teas. More substantial offerings are reasonably priced, tasty, well presented and interesting to satisfy most discerning visitors. The cake of the day has been revitalised to offer a chef's selection: there were four neat delicious tastes. Recommended. The cafe area has been moved form the back of the building into the foyer and bar area and this brings it into the light and the views. A good move. Service is friendly, and attentive in the main. Remember this is a place for a leisurely lunch or coffee and cake in relaxed surroundings.

A very comfy and nice hotel. We went there last June and will be coming back with 15 friends June 2018. Love the place!

I haven't been to Dean Court in several years, so it was a pleasant surprise to see that the quality has remained consistent. The Court Café is a nice new addition, and the recent renovations have created a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. I was impressed by the menu and I thoroughly enjoyed my leisurely lunch. The staff were attentive and friendly. I am excited to come back and try out the restaurant next time!
